Student Ministry

Thanks for your interest in being a Youth Ministries leader! Here are our Core values and a little bit about who we are as a team:

We have ministries working with Middle Schoolers, High Schoolers, and College-aged (Young Adult) students. The commitment level would vary depending on your availability and the need of the ministry. High School and Middle School youth groups meet every Sunday at 9:30 and 11am services, respectively. During the school year, we also have Wednesday night youth group events weekly. YA group meets Sundays @ 6:30pm.

We strive to make Jesus famous in our schools, families, and communities. As a student ministries team, we are passionate about intentional discipleship as this is Jesus’ last command in Matthew 28. We are passionate about building relationships with students so that we can help them to take ownership of their faith--not allowing Christianity to happen around them, but actively participating in their relationship with God. Our job as youth leaders is to come alongside to mentor them as they continue that journey.

In that pursuit, we do have certain expectations for how best we want to accomplish this goal. A Youth Ministries Leader needs to be:
-Spiritually Mature: This means first and foremost being a disciple of Jesus, then looking for opportunities to disciple others.
-Purposeful in relationship-building because this is how discipleship is best accomplished.
-Excited to serve--in the things that are both public and behind the scenes.
-A team player--active in their role with how the ministry is executed.
-Passionate about students; understanding the balance of patience, grace, and truth needed to effectively minister to this age group.

As a Youth Ministries Leader, you can expect to:
-Lead small groups
-Help execute ministry events (leading games, announcements, Q&A panels, attendance, set up/tear down, etc.)
-Attend team meetings
-Mentor students (intentional time spent having spiritual conversations)

Above all, our goal is for students to look more like Jesus when they leave our ministry than when they first showed up; whether that’s 3 days or 3 years, move away or move up, we want to help students take ownership of their faith while we have the opportunity to minister to them. If you have any additional questions, please email students@dscchurch.com.
